Mr. Alexander V. Masotti is a Partner* in the Firm's Fort Lauderdale office. He is a seasoned trial attorney having litigated scores of criminal, civil and administrative matters. Mr. Masotti began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Bronx County District Attorney's Office. He then served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor for the City New York. After leaving the prosecutorial office, Mr. Masotti practiced in New York at a premier mid-sized litigation firm. He also served as an Administrative Law Judge for the New York City Taxi & Limousine Commission where he adjudicated hundreds of regulatory, disciplinary and license revocation proceedings.Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Masotti spent over 15 years in the financial services industry, with significant in-house experience at multiple alternative investment firms. He was most recently President, Chief Operating Officer, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of a New York and London based hedge fund investment firm. Before that, Mr. Masotti was Chief Operating Officer at an emerging US based hedge fund, responsible for legal, compliance, operations and business development. He has also held senior legal, compliance, business development and operations roles, to include Associate General Counsel, Deputy Chief Compliance Officer and Anti-Money Laundering Officer, at multi-billion dollar alternative investment firms, both in the US and Europe. He travelled and represented the firms throughout North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Mr. Masotti has drafted and reviewed numerous fund formation documents, to include, private placement memorandum, offering memorandum, subscription agreements and investment management agreements. Prior to that, he worked at American Express, first on the legal side, drafting and negotiating contracts with Fortune 500 companies and Federal, State and local municipalities, to include, AIG, the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and then on the business side, responsible for managing the relationships with American Express' largest and most strategic customers within the financial services sector.Mr. Masotti is a decorated United States Marine Corps veteran, having served in the Iraq War. He is a trained interrogator and counterintelligence officer. Mr. Masotti is a Knight of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta and is involved in various charitable activities. In his spare time he enjoys working out, spending time with his wife and coaching their children's various sports teams. Mr. Masotti is also fluent in Spanish and Italian.
