Her areas of expertise include matters involving coverage disputes, construction defect issues, products and premises liability claims, contract disputes, and Deceptive Trade Practices Act claims. She is licensed to practice law in both California and Texas, including the United States District Court for the Northern District of California and the U.S. District Court for the Southern, Northern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas. Prior to joining Willoughby, Stuart & Bening, Ms. Applewhite worked as an associate attorney in the Commercial Litigation Section of a Dallas-based firm and in the Litigation Sections of two Austin-based firms.Ms. Applewhite obtained her Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas, where she was a member the school's Administrative Law Moot Court Team. She earned her bachelor's degree in International Studies with minors in Journalism and History from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. She also studied Spanish at Tec de Monterrey in Guadalajara, Mexico.In 2012, Ms. Applewhite was honored by the State Bar of Texas Pro Bono College, which recognizes attorneys who have exceeded the State Bar's aspirational pro bono legal goal in their efforts to address the vast unmet legal needs of the poor. She also served on the Board of Directors for Prevent Child Abuse Texas from 2004 until 2007.Ms. Applewhite currently volunteers her time with several animal rescue groups in the Bay Area, who work with shelters in Northern California to end the euthanasia of adoptable dogs and cats through increasing public awareness, taking legal action that will benefit shelter animals, and by rescuing dogs and cats scheduled for euthanasia and placing them in permanent and loving homes.Originally from Canton, Texas, Ms. Applewhite lives in Sunnyvale with her husband, dog, and two cats. In her spare time she enjoys running, traveling, reading, and college football.
