Jami Aisha Coleman is an attorney at Viera Williams P.A., in Tallahassee, Florida, where she specializes in Tax Law, Probate matters, Estate Planning, and Business Law. Ms. Coleman started her legal career at the Florida Bar where she was a representative with the Attorney Consumer Assistance Program. While working for the Florida Bar, Ms. Coleman earned her Bachelors of Science Degree from Florida State University. After graduating from Florida State University, Ms. Coleman worked as a Drug Court Coordinator at Seminole County Courthouse, under the supervision of the now Florida State Supreme Court Justice James E. C. Perry. While employed at Seminole County Courthouse, Ms. Coleman enrolled at Florida A&M University College of Law where she completed her first year of law school before transferring to Florida State University College of Law (FSU). While at FSU, Ms. Coleman was an editor of the Business Law Review, a member of the Mock Trial Team, competed in the Jessup International Moot Court Competition, and served as the Sub-Regional Director IV of the Southern Region of the Black Law Students Association. Additionally, while at FSU, Ms. Coleman earned her Juris Doctorate in May of 2008.Ms. Coleman has her Masters of Law in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center. While completing her studies at Georgetown, Ms. Coleman interned for Special Trial Judge John F. Dean at the United States Tax Court. Upon graduation from Georgetown, Ms. Coleman continued her internship with the United States Tax Court until she relocated back to Tallahassee, Florida where she began working for the Low Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC) at Legal Services of North Florida as the LITC Attorney. As a LITC Attorney, Ms. Coleman assisted approximately 300 low income taxpayers a year with their tax controversies against the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Moreover, Ms. Coleman was responsible for applying for grants with the IRS for the Low Income Taxpayer Clinic, conducting tax law CLE's, attending community outreach events, and editing and drafting four publications in the American Bar Association Low Income Taxpayer Clinic Newsletter. While working at Legal Services of North Florida, Ms. Coleman also began working part-time for Viera Williams, P.A. In April of 2013, Ms. Coleman resigned from Legal Services of North Florida and joined Viera Williams, P.A., as a full-time tax associate, where she currently assists business owners and individuals with their business and tax related matters. Ms. Coleman is admitted to practice in Florida and before the United States Tax Court, and is pending admission to practice in New York.Ms. Coleman has spent most her life in Tallahassee, Florida, and is very passionate about serving her community. Currently is the President of the Legal Aid Foundation of Tallahassee, Secretary of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Big Bend, Secretary of Project Embrace Inc., Director of the Tallahassee Bar Association Young Lawyer Section, Past Historian and Member of the Tallahassee Barristers Association, Committee Member of the Florida Bar's Registered Paralegal Committee, Class III Fellow with the Wm. Reece Florida Bar Leadership Academy, an Associate Member of the William H. Stafford Inns of Court, and an Adjunct Professor at Florida A&M University, where she teaches corporate and individual income tax in the School of Business and Industry. Ms. Coleman is also affiliated with the business leagues in Tallahassee, particularly the Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce, the Women's Leadership Council of the Big Bend Minority Chamber of Commerce, and Business Network International. Ms. Coleman has served as a mentor for countless youth in Leon County's Public Schools as well as law students at Florida State University College of Law and Florida A&M University College of Law. Ms. Coleman has been recognized by the National Bar Association as a recipient of the 2016-2017 Top 40 Under 40 Nation's Best Advocates, and she received the distinguished award and recognition as the 2016 Nation's Best Advocate. However, her greatest achievements continue to be her two children, Ariel (12) and Khari (17).
