While at Texas Woman's University, Mari worked at Legal Aid of Northwest Texas which provides pro bono legal services to indigent clients. Mari received her law degree from SMU Dedman School of Law. While in law school, she participated in the W.W. Caruth, Jr. Child Advocacy Clinic where she was appointed by juvenile district court judges to serve as guardian/attorney ad litem for abused and neglected children in Dallas County. As Guardian/Attorney ad litem, she was responsible for determining the best interests of the children and representing the children's voice in court.
