Laura A. Hernández is a native Houstonian whose interest in the legal profession began while attending the High School for Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice (now the High School for Law and Justice). After graduating at the top of her class, she went on to pursue a bachelor’s degree in American Studies at Cornell University. It was there that she discovered her passion for studying race and inequality before pursuing a master’s degree in sociology at the University of Chicago. Her devotion to race studies took her to UCLA School of Law where she specialized in Critical Race Studies, the only program of its kind dedicated to the study of the intersection of race and law.Ms. Hernández interned at Vinson & Elkins while in college, and at the Law Offices of Salvador Cicero while in graduate school in Chicago. While in law school, she conducted immigration research for Professor Hiroshi Motomura, and helped update the latest version of his immigration law casebook.  Ms. Hernandez gained invaluable legal research and writing experience by serving as the Editor in Chief of the Chicano/a Latino/a Law Review. She entered into the practice of employment law in 2016 bringing over a decade of study and unparalleled passion for defending against injustice and discrimination.
