Altagracia Pierre-Outerbridge is a graduate of Manhattan College (2002, B.S.), CUNY Law School (2006, J.D.) and the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College (2010, MBA Taxation). While at CUNY Law School, Altagracia was honored with the C. Bainbridge Smith Scholarship, an award reserved for law students who show outstanding career potential. At CUNY Law, she also served at a Teaching Assistant in the law school's trial practice seminar. Prior to beginning private practice at Himmelstein, McConnell, Gribben, Donoghue & Joseph, LLP., Altagracia was a Supervising Attorney in the Tenant's Rights Unit of the New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG). In that role, she supervised the attorneys and paralegals of the Manhattan Homelessness Prevention Law Project. This Project involved representing and advising low-income tenants in court and in administrative proceedings before various City agencies. Her administrative experience includes defending terminations of tenancy, subsidy hearings, and overcharge and reduction of services complaints, before various City agencies. In Manhattan housing court, Altagracia has represented tenants in nonpayment cases, holdovers and HP actions for repairs. Altagracia has also litigated Article 78 proceedings in Supreme Court. Prior to this, Altagracia was a Housing attorney with the Legal Aid Society, representing tenants in Queens housing court. Before then, Altagracia served union members as a Housing attorney with District Council 37 Municipal Employees Legal Services (MELS) where she represented tenants in Brooklyn housing Court. Earlier Altagracia worked with union members at CWA District One Legal Department on labor and employment issues. Altagracia is fluent in French and Creole and is fully conversational in Spanish. Altagracia is the founder of Long Island Moms Playdates, a Facebook group which connects mothers to arrange playdates.
