Rebekah Damen Lusk is a Partner at Thienel & Lusk, LLC. Rebekah brings personal experiences as a small business owner, real estate investor and landlord to the task of practicing law and working with clients. Her practice includes civil litigation, business, employment, landlord/tenant, real estate, family, equine and animal law. Rebekah handles cases in the District and Circuit Courts throughout Maryland, with a focus in the counties of Howard, Frederick, Anne Arundel, Carroll, Baltimore, and Baltimore City, as well as in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland and the District of Columbia. Rebekah believes it is important for clients to have control over the outcome of their legal matters and does her best to settle out of court if appropriate, but when needed she is an effective, successful litigator.Rebekah has received significant press for her legal accomplishments, including a high profile Frederick County case in which she and her co-counsel won a $620,000 judgment from a Frederick County jury for the unlawful and unconstitutional shooting of a chocolate lab and the unlawful entry into the owners' home. In addition, she has received press for her unique work/life balance and her participation in organizing an annual breast cancer fundraising event for the Potomac Valley Dressage Association benefiting Johns Hopkins Hospital. The farm, which includes a 170-year-old farmhouse, was purchased in 2010 and operates a horse boarding facility. Rebekah cares for the horses daily and rides most days before work. Rebekah and her husband had their daughter in 2014 and Rebekah now balances her busy work and farm schedule with the demands of raising their daughter. Rebekah also comes from a long line of DC real estate business owners. Her great grandfather founded what became Rufus S. Lusk & Son, Inc. in 1930, a groundbreaking real estate information service company. Rebekah's father ran this company during her childhood, and she spent many an afternoon and summer helping around the office in Silver Spring, Maryland. Rebekah has continued her family's entrepreneurial tradition by founding a home improvement company with her husband, a property development and management company with her family, and operating the farm.Rebekah received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Chicago and attended law school at The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law. While at Catholic, Rebekah was a member of the law review and graduated Cum Laude. Prior to attending law school, Rebekah worked as an organizer and manager for local and national policy and advocacy organizations in Chicago and DC. Rebekah is dedicated to volunteering with local organizations. She was a board member of the Port Towns Community Development Corporation, based in Prince George's County, MD, from 2004 to 2010, and served as President for two years. Howard County, MDShe was the Chairperson and the Vice-President of the Potomac Valley Dressage Association.Rebekah and family live on their farm with two dogs, three cats and the horses. In her spare time, Rebekah competes in the equestrian sport of Dressage and enjoys sailing, hiking and traveling.
