Shannon joined Dutel Law Firm in 2013 and was admitted to the Louisiana Bar in October, 2013. She received her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Tulane University Law School in 2013. Shannon studied in the Civil Law track at Tulane Law and also earned a Certificate in Environmental Law. In her third year of law school, Shannon worked as a student attorney in the Tulane Environmental Law Clinic. She has also been a judicial extern for the Hon. Timothy Garcia of the New Mexico Court of Appeals and worked as a law clerk at the Southern Environmental Law Center in Atlanta, Georgia.Originally from New Mexico, Shannon graduated from Albuquerque Academy high school and came to Louisiana in 2005 to study at Tulane University. After Hurricane Katrina, Shannon returned to New Orleans and made it her home, earning her Bachelor's degree in Spanish and Environmental Studies from Tulane in 2008, cum laude. She also studied abroad in Valparaiso, Chile as an undergraduate and is conversant in spoken and written Spanish.Shannon is active in the community and volunteers with her Golden Retriever at the Visiting Pet Program of Louisiana, which provides animal assisted therapy in nursing homes, hospitals, and assisted living facilities.Shannon is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the 22nd Judicial District Court Bar Association, and the Federal Bar Association. She is admitted to practice before the Louisiana Supreme Court, all Louisiana State Courts, the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Louisiana.
