After graduating from law school in 1994, Lymari served as an attorney in the United States Army Judge Advocate General Corps (JAG) for nearly five years. Initially, Lymari advised soldiers and their families on family law issues, tax issues, consumer law and wills and estates. Lymari finished her military career after serving a tour of duty as a criminal defense lawyer with the paratroopers of the 82nd Airborne Division. In 2000, Lymari brought her litigation experience to family law when she relocated to establish a private practice in the Twin Cities.Lymari has worked as a lawyer-volunteer for the Hennepin County Family Court Settlement Program. She has also worked as a lawyer-volunteer for the Spanish LAW Clinics at Tubman (a non-profit organization), providing assistance on family law issues to individuals who have difficulty with speaking English or who do not speak English at all.
